Concept design

This design-only service delivers a fully realised interior scheme, taking your project from initial concept through to detailed technical drawings, ready for you to implement yourself.

Site Meeting, Brief & Concept Development

The first stage is all about getting to the core of your brief and how you want to live in your home. This phase is different for every project, but is very much the starting blocks of your project and our process.

Before any design work begins, we take the time to understand how you want to live in your home. Together, we build a detailed client brief and establish a clear design direction, exploring inspiration, furniture styles, colour palettes, materials, textures and architectural detailing. Every concept is tailored specifically to you, creating a design language that feels personal, considered and unique.

Where a property already exists, our team undertakes a detailed site survey to obtain accurate dimensions and gain a thorough understanding of the building and its potential. For new-build projects, we begin by reviewing the proposed architectural drawings alongside your architect, ensuring the interior architecture and design vision are considered from the earliest stages.

Spatial Design & Concept Presentation

Using either our survey drawings or the proposed architectural plans, we create a fully detailed 3D model of your home. This allows us to understand every aspect of the space and maximise its potential before any interior design work begins.

During this stage, we develop the interior architecture, spatial layouts, lighting concepts, electrical layouts and bespoke joinery proposals, ensuring every space functions beautifully and flows seamlessly.

Once complete, we present the proposed layouts and concept direction for approval. Depending on the project, this may include multiple layout options, concept boards and design studies, allowing you to fully understand the vision before progressing to the detailed design phase.

Detailed Design

Once the spatial design has been approved we begin developing the full interior design scheme. Working collaboratively across interior architecture, FF&E and visualisation, our team transforms the approved layouts into a fully realised design.

Every aspect of the project is carefully considered, from architectural detailing and bespoke joinery through to furniture, lighting, kitchens, bathrooms, artwork and styling. Each space is developed in complete detail and rendered photo-realistically, allowing you to fully visualise the finished result before implementation begins.

VR Walk-Through & Interior Design Presentation

One of the most distinctive elements of the JMD client experience is our immersive VR presentation. Rather than viewing static visuals, you are able to walk through your future home and experience the design exactly as it has been envisioned.

We present the full design to you in the form of a VR walk-through, so you can transition through the space and see every inch of the design created. In addition to the VR walk-through, the final design is detailed in a presentation, similar to the spatial design stage.

This stage provides an opportunity to refine any final details before technical documentation begins.

Technical Detail Packages

Once the design has been fully signed off, we then deliver the technical detail drawing pack. This phase of the delivery includes every detail and dimension required in order to implement the design.

Attention to detail is within every facet of the designs we create, so it's incredibly important these details are communicated effectively. We don't want any element of the design to come down to interpretation: we want it done perfectly and the only way we can ensure this is by delivering the most detailed technical pack.

The pack typically consists of GA Floor Plans, Demolition and New Partition Plans, Electrical / Lighting Plans, Reflected Ceiling Plans, Floor Finish Plans, Wall Finish Plans, elevations, joinery specifications, and upholstery specifications.
